Labour, Plant and Equipment

With regards to Labour, DIG IG believe in creating opportunities for local employment in the areas where we operate. Wherever possible, we will offer employment to people from the local community, providing opportunities for sustainable, long-term employment rather than providing jobs only for the length of the project.

By recruiting our workforce from the local area we provide valuable benefits to local communities, and we are committed to training, mentoring and developing all of our employees. In West Africa, the DIG IG team have recruited and trained over 3,000 Sierra Leone, Senegalese, Liberian, Ghanaian and Gambian nationals, including many highly skilled disciplines such as, drainage, carpentry, steelfixing, plant operation, materials testing and engineering.

DIG IG’s philosophy is to use its own plant and tools wherever practical and our current plant holdings exceed £20m. We have over 100 machines and vehicles in Africa, maintained to the highest standard by a team of local and expatriate plant fitters. Local operatives are recruited and trained by our expatriate Plant Trainers, who are hand-picked for their educational and practical skills.
