In 2019 DIG commenced a multi million dollar mining operations contract for SL Mining in Sierra Leone. Marampa Iron Mine is located in Lunsar, 125kms by road North-East of the Capitol Freetown.
DIG were appointed the principal mining services contractor under our client SL Mining over a period of 36 months.
The contract required a 2Mtpa pit mining operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with significant demolition of historical mining infrastructure, to produce 2Mtpa of high grade iron ore concentrate. Review was on-going for expansion to 3.25Mt pa
Ore material was transported to the ROM along a purpose built all weather haul road network for either direct feed or re-handle through the plants and waste material stockpiled in designated tip areas .
To achieve this DIG deployed a fleet of 2 prime mover excavators, 4 bulldozers, 15 Articulated dump trucks, a road maintenance team, small rehandle fleet and support equipment. DIG also deployed 20 expatriate supervisors and managers to ensure our clients’ targets were met.
